How do we provide Medicare services for free?
All the services at the NC-FH AAA are available at no cost to Medicare beneficiaries through partnerships with federal and state programs dedicated to Medicare education, counseling, and outreach.
Grant programs making a difference
The NC-FH AAA provides Medicare counseling, education, and outreach services through three federally funded programs administered by the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services (KDADS). These programs help Medicare beneficiaries access unbiased information, compare coverage options, identify programs that may reduce health care costs, and learn how to protect themselves from Medicare fraud.
Senior Health Insurance Counseling for Kansas (SHICK)
SHICK is the Kansas component of the federally funded State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) and is supported by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). The mission of SHICK is to provide Medicare beneficiaries with free, unbiased education and one-on-one counseling.
Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP)
Senior Medicare Patrol is a grant-funded project under the federal U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), and the Administration for Community Living. The SMP mission is to empower and assist Medicare beneficiaries, their families, and caregivers to prevent, detect, and report Medicare fraud, errors, and abuse.
Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act (MIPPA)
The Medicare Improvement for Patients and Providers Act (MIPPA) program is a federal grant program that the U.S. Administration for Community Living (ACL) provides to support targeted outreach and education to eligible Medicare beneficiaries, especially those who are low-income with limited resources and/or resident of rural areas. MIPPA helps Medicare beneficiaries with limited income and assets learn about programs that may save them money on their Medicare costs.
