The North Central-Flint Hills Area Agency on Aging is excited to announce a new seminar as part of our Answers for Older Kansans program.

Low Income Housing: A Good Legal Option for Seniors will be presented by Paul Shipp, Managing Attorney at Kansas Legal Services, on Thursday, April 29th at 5:30 pm by Zoom. The seminar will cover why low income housing is a good option for seniors, especially those living on a fixed income, and what your rights are.

The role of a caregiver can be a tough one to navigate, but the North Central-Flint Hills Area Agency on Aging is here to provide answers. Come hear CNA Cindy Gaschler from We Care Online talk about important topics and provide tips and answers for those who serve as a caregiver to another individual.

Consumers turning age 65 are bombarded with an avalanche of marketing materials that can be confusing and biased toward a particular insurance company. If you are looking for unbiased answers, attend a Medicare Basics Workshop.

Thanks to the Missouri SMP (Senior Medicare Patrol), the North Central-Flint Hills Area Agency on Aging has been made aware of a new scam related to COVID-19 being sent to vaccine recipients. You may receive a suspicious email asking you to complete a survey about your COVID-19 vaccination and offering a free reward in return for you “to cover shipping” by paying a small fee. When we think of February, one of the first things that comes to mind is Valentine’s Day hearts, but February is also Heart Health Awareness Month. The North Central-Flint Hills Area Agency on Aging has received important information from KDADS in regards to the Abuse, Neglect, and Exploitation Hotline:

The Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services (KDADS) has received reports of individuals being unable to access the Abuse, Neglect, and Exploitation Hotline. KDADS is working diligently to resolve the issue, and advises Kansans to continue to report suspected cases of Abuse, Neglect, or Exploitation in an adult care home, medical facility or home health agency to the hotline via fax or email while these issues are being resolved.
