Low-Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP)

The Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP) is a federally funded program that helps eligible households pay some of their home energy costs. Helps comes in the form of a one-time per year benefit. In 2021, LIEAP served about 38,000 Kansas households, with an average benefit of $1,389.

Ordinarily, the application process would be closed at this time. However, any household that had not previously applied in 2021 for LIEAP may submit an application between Jan 3 and May 31. Applications must be submitted to the Kansas Department of Children and Families. They can either be submitted online or as a paper form submitted to the nearest DCF service center, along with supporting documentation.
