The Cold Weather Rule

As a reminder, The Cold Weather Rule is now in effect and lasts from November 1st to March 31. This rule ensures that you will have your basic utilities during the winter. The Cold Weather Rule only applies to people who get their electric, natural gas, and water utilities through companies under the Kansas Corporation Commission’s (KCC) jurisdiction. In order to use the Rule you must also make pay arrangements your utility.

A utility can’t disconnect you when the temperature is forecasted to drop below 35 degrees Fahrenheit within the following 48-hour period, except in certain circumstances.
